Global Presence

Graham Packaging has grown from a design-engineering firm founded in 1960 in York, Pennsylvania, USA. The company developed as plastic containers became the material of choice for every day products, by the early 1990’s there were nearly 30 plants in North America, along with operations in France, Italy, the UK and Brazil.

Since then, Graham Packaging has pursued a strategy of aggressive global expansion. This reached a milestone in 2004, with the acquisition of O-I Plastic, a subsidiary of Owens-Illinois Inc, a move that effectively doubled the size of the company.

Today, Graham Packaging remains headquartered in York and is a leading global producer of custom high value added blow molded plastic containers, manufacturing in excess of 20 billion containers each year.

In early 2010, Graham Packaging made an initial public offering of stock through the NYSE.
