Graham Packaging understands its responsibility to the global environment, the society, our customers and employees. We use the word “environment” broadly, covering the aspects of working, product and external environment.
Energy supplier
Graham Packaging has chosen Eneco as their Energy supplier. Eneco is the largest producer of renewable energy in the Netherlands and makes use of several sources like: biomass, water, sun and wind. It is Eneco’s policy to produce 100% renewable energy in 2030. Through the use of renewable energy, Eneco makes an important contribution to the European targets that require the Netherlands to generate 20% of its electricity from renewable sources in 2020. Eneco not only leads the way in the production of renewable energy, but also occupies a dominant position on the green electricity market. In 2009 Eneco was chosen for the second time by Greenpeace as the “greenest energy producer” in the Netherlands. An excellent reason for Graham Packaging’s choice for Eneco.
Energy reduction
Green Energy has been working in the Netherlands since 1998 to increase the efficiency of the electrical infrastructure used in large-scale electricity consuming facilities. Together with Green Energy Graham Packaging has achieved a structural reduction in electricity consumption of 5-8%. This has been realised by installing Phaseliners and the Euro Lightning system.

PET Recycling
PET is fully recyclable. Graham Packaging is using Post-Consumer Recycled PET (PCR PET) for production of new containers for food and non-food products.
Graham Packaging recycles 100% of their in-house clear PET scrap. Coloured PET scrap is sold to companies who re-use the PET for the production of clothing, carpet fibre and fibrefill for stuffing articles such as pillows.
Waste reduction
Graham Packaging Company BV has implemented a companywide “waste reduction program”. The aim of this program is to decrease the overall amount of waste and separate waste materials like metal, paper/cardboard and oil for recycling purposes.
